ok this might be a dumb question. Is the propeller shaft the drive shaft. The reason i ask is in the owners manual it says to grease/ lube the propeller shaft after 30k miles.

Yes it is, but only the front one can be greased.

yeah, i just hit 30k and took it in to get the oil changed. noticed the service manual says to lube driveshaft at this point. i told the dealer to lube it and he looked at me like i had a dog growing out of my head and first said "why?". then, after agreeing and having my truck for 2 hours (for oil change and lube) told me it couldn't be done - they were sealed. i hadn't looked for this before so i had never noticed. weird. i didnt notice that you could lube the front (i just kinda took a real quick peak at the dealership and really only looked at the rear). i will have to check into that. If Nissan sealed it from the factory with a plug (as in my 2002 SE 4x4), then whey would you need to remove the plug and put in a zerk? Seems Nissan plugged it up so it is a non-maintenance item, and they just haven't updated their owner's manuals.

I had my X in for some maintenance last week and I asked them to lube my shaft. [Huh?] They said they did it.
