I don't believe that this topic has ever been covered.

Some people replaced their auto hubs to Warn manual hubs, and I have seen the Warn premium manual hubs on stock wheels. They stick out... In fact, they stick out little too far out, I think.

As I recall, my '97 HD had factory manual hubs. My question is: would factory manual hubs from HD or some other Nissan model vehicles would fit on Xterra? confused (I am throwing this question without knowing ...basically anything about Nissan front axles...number of splines, etc.)

Would they not fit at all? confused Or, if they do fit, what would be the reason why I should choose Warn hubs over the factory ones?

Thanks,

The spline count from the older trucks is different. Nissan does have manual hubs for the Xterra, as seen on the 2002 Enthusiast Package. They are shorter than the warn hubs. Part #40250-8B400, $113 each list price, available for $86 from nissanparts.cc, or if you're lucky you'll do what I did yesterday and spot a guy getting into a 2002 EP Xterra and offer to swap your auto hubs for his manual hubs. He's going to call me tomorrow and let me know if he wants to do it, but I think he will smile

They have one of these EP Xterra's here in Charlotte at Independence Nissan. Shock Blue. Nice truck. I am eyeing it in a very lustful way. I think they are asking around $23,000 for it. I would give them that, but I would want my trade-in taken care of, and I doubt that would happen. 2000 VW Jetta, with electrical issues and 88K miles. Not a chance....

XSAL,

Yes, the Warns do stick out a bit... more metal. A bit of plastic shaving and the old hub covers work.

The one thing that Warn offers that you may want to consider are fuses. When (not if) you blow a driveline component, you want it to be a cheap part that is easy to replace. Hub fuses fit that bill at $20 and twenty minutes replacement.

Manual hub are generally rated at higher performance than autos... +80,000 psi. The CV joints are rated to +66,000 psi, and lower if the wheel is articulated. Guess what is going to fail?

At $129 the Warn replacement kit is a good deal... and throw in a few fuses for the road.

My two cents worth.

See ya at WestX,
Doc
