I just traded in the Rugged Trails for BFG A/T KO. I went with 33s after a quick test and the verdict is amazing!!! 285/75R16 The front tires rub against the flimsy skirt, this will be resolved once the lift is on. The spare fits!!! A good 2" away from exhaust, brake lines, etc. Thanks again to Nissan!!!

That is good news. I've never tried to swap out tires on a new vehicle. I just picked up my X today and am wondering what to expect from a tire dealer as far as costs to do a trade.

I got $50 per tire and a pretty good price on the new set.
UXOC club discount put me at $538 out the door with a pro-rated Offroading warranty. 5 tires of course!

You mean 285/75R16, right? They're 32.8" tall.
285/65R16s aren't even 31s.
Post some pics when you get a chance, if you don't mind. While I'm at it, how about some flex shots or other offroad shots? I've still not seen any...

that 33' fits without the tow package right, or did you get one aftermarket already. i'm curious to know what size tire fits with the tow package in place.

Yes, this is without the tow package at this point.
Yes, 32.8" is what the 285 measures out to be, but for all intents and purposes a 33" tire.
Pix soon...

Do you have splashguards?

Do you have splashguards? The ride is great... not much of a change, thanks to the 265hp!!! Splashguard came off on day 2. I'm just waiting for the rest of the Calmini mods to become available.

Thanks for the great pictures; the truck looks great. The tires are perfect. Nissan should have made them 285/75s for the Off-road from the start.
Definately one of the first things I'll need to get. Good thing there are guine... I mean trailblazers to try it out first.
I am waiting now for shrockworks and Calmini to get their stuff out.

You can turn the turn stops out a bit to prevent that skirt rub. I would have said to get the 305/70/16's instead of the 285/75/16's BTW. The 305/70's are a full 33", but are a bit wider treaded than the 33x12.5/15's, so the flotation/traction is improved, and the sidewall is as tall if not a bit taller....so the wrap on obstacles, etc...is preserved. 50K miles from now, when the AT ko's are getting near replacement, I'd consider getting the extra width on the next set. In the meantime - Looks Good!

Did you cross your rig up to check for clearane when stuffed? you can get an idea of how close you are by driving up on oil change ramps, one infront of one of the front wheels, one infront of the opposite rear wheel. when I checked mine I was wondering if I'd need more bump-stop in the rear for 33s

Correct me if I am wrong... but in previous years of the X the rims were only 7" wide. Going 12.5" wide or wider on a 7" rim is not a good combo. The tires turn into balloons on a small rim.
I will be getting another set of 6 onr 4.5 rims and MT/Rs. I will keep that in mind, but the rims will need to be wider.
Thanks for the comments.

Actually the 305s are a tad smaller, but certainly wider. They are really meant for a wider rim. 7.5-9, but at the lower end it's a ballon.

No, they're a tad wider, I had the 33x12.5/15's and the 305/70/16's side by side...the 305's are wider than the 12.5's....I measured the tread width (Not to be confused with the section width. The 70 series aspect ratio is less of a balloon in profile than the 75 series aspect ratio...and you get more tread width for your section width... (Note the non-balloony appearance) So my 305/70/16's have a tad wider tread than 33x12.5/15's...and are a tad taller as well...and are less balloony too.

By a tad smaller, I mean a tiny tad. Meaning like a few millimeters smaller that the 285/75. the 33" is actually 32.5", that's why your comparison of the tires made the 305 bigger... it oddly enough is! Strangely, a 33"x12.5x16 is bigger: 34".

if you go to the bfg site, there is a size chart (pdf) that has all the diameters, width etc.
i currently have the 305's on my 4x superduty w/ stock rims (16x7's) and they are a close but do quite well. i know guys w/ 315 on stock rims and i wouldn't do it.
as a side note, DO NOT get the 295's. for some reason, the side lugs only go a 1/2 inch down the sidewall as opposed to the inch on the rest of the tires. i made that mistake before i got the 305's. first of all they look goofy. second of all, not to happy w/ the lack to tread on the sidewall. i emailed bfg and they gave me some reason but it never really explained why it is like that (and there were 2 other much smaller sizes that did that too).
and, btw, i am trying to sell the diesel to get an 05 in the next few weeks.
