What do you think of this?

Predator 4x4 in Colorado sells a brand called Magnum. This is a private-label winch manufactured by Warn which is required to meet the same specs as any other warn (of the same weight rating). It doesn't have any of the fancy trim or wireless remotes, but will get the job done. Predator sells a 9k for $549, you should be able to find 'em on ebay for around $499.

looks like a great winch but i wouldnt do business with predator. they are overpriced and difficult to work with. i had a lift put on and some skid plates made for my jeep and i found the work to be good but 4x4performance parts in colorado springs was much better on prices, friendlier to work with and listened to what i wanted done instead of making their "expert recommendations" and not listening like predator. also try avenger 4x4 in COS

The only real difference I saw between the Magnum and the Warn labeled winch was the amperage draw, it's much higher on the Magnum.

Yeah, Predator 4x4 are dipshits........

I think that the amperage draw is a big deal. Maybe that is the reason for the price difference.
confused

This came up @ NOR a week or two back. I noticed that not only is the current draw much higher on the Magnum, but note that both line speed and current draw are noted in 1000 lb. increments up to 4000 lbs. vs. the Warn's 2000 lb. increments to the maximum 9000 lb. load.
The Magnum has already gotten slower and hungrier at 4000 lbs. than the XD9000 does at it's maximum of 9000 lbs. The Magnum's trend would put it something around 2-3 ft/minute with a current draw of over 1000 amps with a 9000 lb load.

???
