I like the plasma pictures smile
But, all these SAS projects could very well shorten my 1 year out plans for the SAS...specially if I can find an axel

Looks great.

Moab is going to be a whole lot more interesting this year. Last year we had 3 SAS Xterras and one SAS Pathfinder. This year we are going to have a bunch of SAS trucks as well as a number of other creative mods.

Is your tie rod setup custom?

Take Care,

-Doug

Yeah the tie rod setup is a HD custom put together at the shop.

Since it sits out there I wanted something a little beefier.

Kev, does All Phase sell that steering as a kit? I need to do something for my axle as well.

We can make that system for your rig at a fairly economical price. There are two ways to go about it. One is to use the bigger thinner wall tubing, like on the pic, and weld the ends on. The other is to get tubing with the correct inner diameter to thread directly in the tubing for heim joint. This tubing tends have a smaller diameter and thicker walls. Either way works awesome.

We can get the tubing at the local metal supply at about 60% the cost of the 4wd shops and the correct taps(left and right thread)just happen to be in my tool box. Poison spyder sells the threaded ends for $12 each and heims run about $30.

Kev, Being you truck is a DD, you may think about installing some of THESE , they will protect the heims from the daily grime you get out in the mountains.

Damn, I guess I need to move up to Colorado. All you fellas up there seem to have a ton of cash to sink into your rigs. AND the time off work to go enjoy them. I can't seem to compute that. confused I hate you guys! [Finger]

Looks good!

i just dropped my truck off for the SAS too. i like the tie rod set up but where is your draglink going to mount. are you fabbing up the inverted T hook up to it?

what size tires are you going to go with?

Drag link we will sand off a spot and weld something on... may go custom all the way to the pitman arm. May use the Calmini also should have it al figured out tommorrow.

Tire size not tottally sure yet see how it sits when it is all done, check the clearances while turned. I also have to keep in mind the offset wheels.

I would think Over Knuckle would give you a better angle not to mention more clearance if it doesn’t interfere with anything else?

Might as well go custom all the way since the CALMINI adapter and supplied Chevy Tie rod is kind of pain for alignment because of the threading. Although the stock Pitman may need to be reamed to fit the stud.

Did you leave the knuckles stock alone or ream those for the custom tie rod?

90% Done....

Well basically done. Drive shaft did not make it so I will put that on Thurs or Friday after it gets here.

We went custom and over the knuckle to keep the clearance below the axle. Tie Rod is .25 inch thick metal with heims. Drag link is slightly thinner metal with heims.

Can someone take a pic of the clearance between the exhaust and skid. MAN does that look tight.

Pics coming soon.
