well, about 2 weeks ago, hurricane (ts) charley came through north eastern NC...and then my buddy and i went out to play in some water. hes got a big ass blazer on 44's and i had my stock xterra. we got some good pictures...water over his axles, water up to my wheel well (lol, not the best idea i know). well, about 30 minutes later, driving down a road w/ about 4 or 5" of standing water, i lost my engine. just stopped. wouldn't start. i was only going about 10-15mph at the time and didn't think it was a problem. turns out i filled my engine w/ water and blew a couple rods. you could literally wring out my filter like a sweaty shirt on a summer day. we found water in 4 out of 5 cylinders we checked. after making an ins claim, turns out my engine w/ 74k on it got me a check for 2910.75 after my 500 deductible. i got a used engine for 1000 w/ 28k on it. ....prolly another week till i get it back and by then, all my parts should be here so ill have to go w/ out for another 3 days or so to get my body lift installed. and sprint screwed me last month w/ my cell phone BAD...just keeps on getting better eh?

Use some of the $ for a snorkel.

i plan on it in the next few months. i just spent abt 5500 on parts (s/h too ). i got an arb winch bumper, winch, calmini swing away, 5 33x12.50's and wheels, 3" SL and 3" BL and its gonna cost me about 1100 to get the body lift installed. my buddy doesn't wanna help me do that, it supposedly takes like, 28 hours or something. we are goign to do the suspension lift ourselves to save some $. only snorkel i can find is for the nissan navara (aus version of the frontier).

abt ur snorkel...did u do the install urself? i have full unrestricted access to a bodyshop so the cutting of the fender won't be anything for me. a saw a guy around here w/ one on his X and he said that they had to use a 20oz coke bottle to make it work....any problems there w/ yours?

Out of curiosity... how did you get your insurance company to cover your engine damage?

i got full coverage? i just assumed full meant full...literally. but it did occur during tropical storm charley and it was attributed to that. don't know if most insurance companies will cover it that way, but if not, and you are interested, my insurance is w/ AIG

That's interesting. I figured that would have blamed you for driving it in deep water.

stock. everything but the stereo was stock at the time.
