I am looking for the yakima horizontal mightymounts that mount directly to the roofrack crossbars on a 2005/06. According to Yakima my only option is their universal mighty mounts for 50 bucks. Xterraparts.com has a set for 20 bucks but no yakima part number confused . I am ordering them from another vendor in order to take advantage of there promotion wink . Anybody have any idea know who is right and what the actual part number is for the horizontal mightymount. I understand that it is also different from the first generation. confused thanks

I believe it's a Yakima Mighty Mount 28H

The Universal Mighty Mount is the only Yakima mount that works on the 05+. I have a set of these and they work great.

I agree with Tuna, I'm fairly certain the 28H parts are the Yakima part number for the Xterra factory crossbar mounts. I got a set of Horizontal Mighty Mounts from CourtesyParts.com and they do work with my 06. The Universal also work fine, but they are expensive compared to these. I opted against using the factory bars though to put on a LowRider Max kit and Yakima xbars.

Did you just use their online rack config tool or did you call Yakima? They've always been super helpful on the phone with me.

I had Yakima rack accessories so I knew I needed a Yakima adapter (or assumed I guess...) so I just called places in town that sold Yakima rack systems and they all said that the Universal Mighty Mount was the only thing that would fit. If there is another less expensive alternative, that's cool too, since it does exactly the same thing.

I personally prefer the lowriders to the mighty mounts. JMO of course.

I have both the vertical and horizontal oval mounts for my 2001 Xterra. I bought the vertical ones for the ski rack.

Now that I have the 2005 I figured these would fit. They seem kinda loose on the 2005 bars, but honestly I don't remember how tight they fit on the 2001.

Can anyone confirm or deny that the 2005 bars are slightly different than gen1 Xterras?

I have the "universal mighty mount" w/ 2 bike racks on my X. They are okay. I'll get lowriders when I have the extra money. But they work. I'll take a pic tomorrow.
