First off, where do you obtain a boost gauge for the '02 Xterra SC. Any ideas on the best ones?

And second off, How do you hook it up and what do you hook it up to? I would really like to know what kind of boost that SC is putting in there at any given time.

Any info on how to do this would be very helpful.
Thanks

Any web site or shop that sells performance parts will have a selection of boost and boost/vacuum gauges.
Have not looked at a SC yet so I can't give specific install hints. You'll want to monitor boost/vacuum on the intake manifold after the SC.
If you buy at a (good) shop, they should help you out.

dave and xtoy - we have on on our car tho smile

OK, I figured it would be easy to get the gauge, but does anyone know how and where to hook it up at?

There is a vaccuum/boost line diagram under the hood - the signal line to the bypass valve is going to have vaccuum and boost - just tee-in there.

Forget where and how, what about why?

Why...it's nice to know what your engine is doing when it is doing it. I am just curious at what points are what amounts of boost.

A boost or boost/vacuum gauge is standard equipment on nearly all SC or TC vehicles. Nissan was just pinching pennies when they neglected to include one.
Monitoring engine functions is always an advantage - unless you 'like' idiot lights.

I agree, gauges are better than lights, but I don't see the purpose of a boost gauge for the SC.

The Eaton SC is belt driven and it used a fair ammount of power during boost. Belts can and do slip. They do not always squeal. The SC will not provide full boost if it the belt slips. In addition, a belt that slips is prone to early failure.
Knowing the typical boost values can give an indication if the belt is loose.

Well if anyone gets one put on I'd love to see pics of the install. I'm debating putting one as well.

I installed a boost gauge on my 2001 Frontier S/C. You can see pics of the install here: www.picturetrail.com/ecujeb Hope that helps.

Jeb,

I think it's amazing that I post the same thing 3 weeks ago and no one responded to it. Is your boost/vac gauge sticking yet? My vacuum gauge is "notchy", not a velvet smooth sweep anymore.

Chris,

My gauge is working fine. Maybe something got in your line or it is crimped somewhere.
