So I was bored and got to looking at the UK Nissan site and I looked at the Xterra's sibling the Navara (our Frontier). It comes with 2.5 liter common rail diesel, 171 horsepower, 546 foot pounds of torque, 22 MPG City, 32 highway, 5900 pounds of towing. The Navara comes with either a 6 speed manual or 5 speed automatic, so i would suspect that may be the same transmission as the gas engine. Now all we need is someone go to the UK and bring one back, I am sure it will fit in the overhead compartment of the plane. wink

The Nissan Patrol comes with a gas or a 3.0 liter diesel.

I did my math wrong. 403 nm is 297 foot pounds of torque.. still beating the Xterra

What, you don't want the added expenses of water separators, more oil, etc.? I did an oil change for a Ford 250 that took 16 quarts of oil, synthetic to boot. That's insane.

I do think that the low-end torque is much better for offroading though, but there is a drawback to every good thing in vehicle. More Horses, more things break, I could go on, but I think I made my point.

I would like one for towing my trailer. I suspect that I would get a sufficient increase in fuel economy towing to make it worth my while. It gets kind of scary towing when you are not sure you have enough gas to get to the next town.
