mine is probably gonna be the craziest list... but, Mines just planned. simply, many of the parts dont exist, some are not worth it to me unless i have others, so for now, mines basicly stock i've just got tires and a torsion bar twist.
Mines devided into two lists:
-Want Now- ---------- -3-4" lift Long travel Suspension -Bilstien 7100 Resevior Shocks -Bilstien Hydraulic Bump Stops -Calmini Steering System -Hanneman Fiberglass Fender Flares -Hanneman Fiberglass kit (replaces rear bumper assembly) -American Racing AR767 Wheels -Front "Prerunner" bumper -Rear Prerunner Bumper
-Want Later- ------------ -Rear Locker -Cold Air Intake -Cams -Large Bore Throttle Plate -Exhaust -Remapped Computer -Throttle Linkage from an '02 (doesn't make a real differance, but it would feel like it did)
-misc. odds and ends

Man, you guys are awesome. I didn't do much modding to the 4x4, mainly because I wasn't ever sure if I would keep it a long time. I am quite sure, God willing, that I will be keeping the 4x2 for a LOOOOOONG time. I am pumped up about all the things you can do with a 4x2, as it is pretty darn capable off road, as well as on the road, where most of these trucks stay anyway.
So far, I've got:
Sirius Fm Modulator Radio installed Yakima Lowriders on the roof rack with two bike trays installed
Plans for the future: SEAT COVERS!!!! like to get some 2002 SE wheels and rubber all around. I love the charcoal. Foglights. Tint darker on all windows.
My wife better be glad we cut up the plastic!!!!

Man, I'm on the bottom of the list compared to you guys...Sylvania head lights, sony cd-mp70 headunit, 3 12's...soon to come are components, new tires, new tint, brushed aluminum dash kit, some new exhaust (wish against wish right there) brush gaurd, etc, etc...of course, i would love to raise it a little and slap some good looking rubber under there, but insurance companies seem to frown upon that...and the money is lacking as well...

Ooohhh... Forgot about that mod... I've got that too... And if we're getting nit-picky, I've also got 35% more tint applied all around (which means the "pre-tinted" windows are now limo), mud/dirt mats, and PIAA 65/100W (i think) replacement bulbs, and 2 400W power inverters (one in the front and one in the back)... Hhehehee...

Mods -
1) I removed the license plate frames with the obnoxious dealership logo. It's amazing how many people leave these on their vehicles - something like 90%. When the dealership offers to pay me for advertising, I'll consider putting them on.
2) Seat covers.
3) Stickers in the back window.
4) Tow Hitch and Hitch Bike Rack.

But it's by far the qietest vehicle I've ever ridden in, and that's including my friend's new Accord . . .

I have run with the air dam and basket on and off for periods of time (I live under trees and it is easier to leave them off during the fall season, if I'm not using them, cause they catch falling leaves). The wind noise is noticeably better to me without the dam and basket. Graham XC - the quietest vehicle you've ridden in? You have to be kidding. The wind noise is there, with and without the dam. You must have your tunes cranked to 11.

Of course I have my tunes cranked to 11. You don't? I've rddden in many vehicles, and yes, the little coupes and sedans had less wind noise. But they made up for it with creaking, groaning body panels, shitty fit & finish on the interior trim (creaking plastic is damn annoying!), noisy suspension . . . the little things! My Xterra is still solid, everything fits together exactly like the day it came off the lot, and unless something is in the back, it doesn't make a sound, even going over the tracks on Gracy Farms at speed . . . I like the wind noise in my X (it's nice, plus I'm driving a vehicle with the profile of a refrigerator carton, so I kinda expect it). Better than the road noise on many other cars . . .

A rear locker sort of like a Limited Slip Differental (LSD). Except a LSD will only kick in when traction is lost. A locker will maintain a lock of both wheels allowing them to spin at the same time no matter what the condition, they are greatly needed on the 2wd rear set. Because there have been many a time that I have been off road where one tire would spin and the other wouldnt, if the other would have then I would not have gotten stuck.

Nope... no one gets torn into on this board. The key is, not to take anything too personal. It's all good for the most part. On the subject of "lockers" here's a great page that shows, with kewl graphics, what a locker is and exactly how they work. Differentials Enjoy!

another good place on the web to learn about lockers, lsd's or even 4wd/2wd systems in general, is "www.howstuffworks.com". they explain everything you need to know, simply but not so simple you feel like a child or anything. the xterra's a great vehicle, it's your responsibility to learn as much about it as you can. have fun.

Mr. Todrick! How have you been?If you don't remember me ,well its racerxtra I'm just traveling under a new name with my snazy broadband connection! There are some great mods going on here at the 4x2 site... Mine are a bit different: K&N intake, Nokya lighting in stock housings, de-badged and shiny, 18"Enkei RT6's , Toyo Proxes, 2" drop front and rear, neoprene seat covers in a racy red! I know I haven't been around for a while but project WRX has drained me of time and money! Next on the project list is my kids 80' Monte Carlo! Just got it for him (he liked Training Day so much we thought we'ld pimp out a monte for him!) E-mail me for pics of the X and the WRX , both in lovely silver , of course!cohlineman@vbbn.com

Although I am the Proud owner of a very capable 2WD, I mistakenly passed over this part of the fourm expecting little more than good natured BS from the 4X4 folk.Ooops So right now all I've done is installed deflectors-bug, sides and rear.I'm looking at setting up some roof lighting, but I'm really interested in the locker idea.I never thought about it on a 2WD although I have thought about the 3" lift. Since moving to Fl., I have alot more Mud and sand to deal with and think the lift and a more capable tire would be useful. Thanks all for the insight

to do my list correctly and completely right now would be about 15-20k because of all the custom fab work.
thats why i sit and wait for either Calimini or SLR to start making kits like the ones that exist for other makes and models. saving money on the complete custom fabrication of a suspension would greatly reduce that cost...
My truck sits... near stock, because the parts either do not exist... or do not exist in a price range that seems comprable to other kits on the market.
I think i have finally decided... if i cant find a kit i like this year... then im gonna go ahead and go Custom... a piece at a time.
