I BOUGHT IT!! :)

An update for those who were wondering and info for anyone with questions on prices
Tonight I bought... 2005 Xterra Offroad 4x4 Auto Side air bags splash guards all weather floor mats (rubber) cargo cover in cabin micro filter Auto dimming mirror protection package
and all the stock goodies, for a grand total OTD price of $27,000 even before Tax, and stuff with rebate $25279 sales tax in Vermont is 5% (fyi)
I hope this helps somebody, I did a TON of research before finally deciding and it came down to wanting an OR over an SE bad enough that I was willing to pay $600 more for the OR over a comparable SE.
Let me know with all honesty what you think of my price, I may have paid a little much but the 2005 OR's are getting scarce. Gonna go for a ride now...

Congratulations Now your First Modification: Remove the Splash Guard before heading to any Trail... Otherwise, the Trail will remove them for you... Second Mod: Put decent tire under it and have fun... See You! P.S.: Splash Guard & Rugged Trail are made for Shopping Mall use... P.P.S.: I have no Splash Guard anymore & I drive on BFG AT KO (standard size)

Ok so a decent tire would be...."BFG AT KO"
I know that is a BF Goodrich, I am guessing all terrain? but what is the KO?

ko=Key Offroad Wait for the stocker tires to wear out unless you are richer than most, etc...they are 32's, and the OR's I've wheeled with have not been crippled enough by them to warrent immediate removal and replacement...in short, the OR's tires beat the General tires on the pre-'05's that WERE worth junking before the nubs wore off. Instead of tires, get sliders. If you got tires, you'd upsize to 33's, which the new X's can fit w/o a lift...but you already have 32's...so its not a huge jump at all anyway. Sliders on the other hand provide real protection from side impact, a place to hi-lift from, and protect the rocker panels, which are vulnerable on break over angle. Most people get the one's from shrockworks. www.shrockworks.com They are a lot cheaper than a new set of tires, and will make more of a difference for an OR. Removal of the mud flaps is of course free, and the OR's don't come with the flimsy steps that the SE's etc come with, because its assumed ORs will go, um, offroad...where the flimsy steps get all bent up...hence the need to get sliders, which you can also step on, and are meant for off road work. So - the guys who wheeled the OR's just took off the flaps, added sliders, and went out to play. The rear locker makes a lot of hills a a lot flatter....and helps to compensate for the tire's not being that aggressive. (The OR's do great...they are tough beasts) The stock skid plates are kind of iffy, and most plan to upgrade those to black panther, skid row or shrockworks...and I think calmini is coming out with something too. (All '05+ mod vendors are just gearing up...so there's a wait on some of them....) I noticed you are from VT - Northeast 4WD is doing a Paragon and Rousch Creek thing in the Spring, that's a few hrs from you...you should check it out, its called the Nor'Easter. http://forum.ne4wd.org/

Sweet X,Ducatiboy, and eXTra-fORt has a point. If you take off the mud flaps and get nice tires such as all terrains, it looks so much better. Thats the first thing i did on my 02, mud flaps and step rails. TJ also has a good point though. What for some tread to wear for tires and then tire and go with sliders. I hope to get sliders soon, hopefully money problem goes. (i'm 18 and pay for my own X) ohh yeah, why is your name ducatibuy? bc of oakley glasses, they have that series with the silver and red glasses. sorry for such a long post

Thanks for the Mod info, I'm gonna check out the sliders, I was thinking step rails but sliders serve a better purpose and are more "worth it" (gotta sell the wife on these things somehow ) I will check those get togethers in the spring, thanks for the heads up.
As for my name... Ductiboy is a nickname I was given from my motorcycle group of friends because I was the only guy in the group riding a Ducati (and one of the few in Vermont with one) back in the day. I am 35 and "the day" was quite awhile ago lol. I still own a Ducati.

Assuming the wife unit is not an offroad fan per se, I find the bet ON road use of the sliders is protection of the truck from bad drivers who t-bone you at intersections, merges and in p lots, etc...and people who whip their doors open w/o restraint, against your doors...they generally fend off bad drivers. It makes the truck safer from side impact. It provides a step, as the OR's didn't come with any, and the stealerships charge $500 for step rails, and real sliders are about $200 less than fake ones. If you get stuck, you need them to jack off of...there is no where on a stock X to use a hi-lift jack. etc. Good Luck!

First Real Trail in Québec (100% stock) Rock Encounter: Another trail last fall (with sliders & BFG A/T) What you CAN do with BFG A/T and can't with Rugged Trail: MUCH MUCH More easy with proper rubbers under! Look this video: Xterra Quebec - Blainville Trail - October 2005 Regards

"Remove the Splash Guard before heading to any Trail... Otherwise, the Trail will remove them for you..." The trail usually does more damage than just removing those guards huh

Well for reference, I paid $27,000 OTD for my OR
Is 22,000 OTD or before taxes and stuff?
Congrats on the buy, I have only had mine 4 days and I love it.

22,000 was for everything , I went to the bank and got pre-approved before I went in, I was actually on my way to buy a CRV but just thought I would test drive the Xterra first, and liked it better
I just hope it is as reliable as a honda

Is the extra warranty woth it? The warranty may be worth it - keep this in mind: 1. You can buy the warranty from any Nissan dealer. Play them off as you would to get a deal on a vehicle. When I bought my 2000 X (Dec 2000), we were quoted $1399 for the Gold warranty by our dealer. Went back with an Internet offer from another dealer for $699 and they matched it. 2. Take a careful look at what's covered under the standard warranty vs. the one you're considering. The standard drivetrain warranty is such that the extended one sometimes doesn't offer that much of an advantage. Look at that stuff vs. the price and go from there.
