Geek on....

They turned to the dark side of the force
Took the easy path
Turned their back on the Jedi order and ways of the light side
Jedi no longer acknowledge them as one of thier own

Geek off...

Huh what the hell was I saying!!

From the other games I've played.. KOTOR, KOTOR2. The rest of the galaxy consider them one in the same. Just different factions fighting for control. In the movies they are different groups with similar abilities but different ways of seeing the world. Sith= use force for power and control of the galaxy. Jedi= use force in defense of others for the betterment of the galaxy.

Is my geek showing? Talked about the movies and the video games in one thread. [Freak]

If you are really curious:
http://thunder.prohosting.com/~spiff/history.html

Readers' Digest version:

Way back when, some force-sensitive people founded the jedi order, some went bad, and were banished to the Sith world. At the time it was not either evil or good, just existed. The banished Jedi took over and made the Sith slaves, That is how they got the name Lord of the Sith. Eventually, they fought amongst each other to a point there were only 2 left, a master and an apprentice, and it has been that way ever since. This is why Yoda said there can be only 2. They are too power hungry for there to be more of them.

Movie Context:

Darth Sidious = Palpatine = Master
Darth Maul = apprentice - killed by Obi-Wan
Darth Tyrannus = Count Dooku = apprentice -will be replaced by vader
Darth Vader = Anakin Skywalker = last of the known sith

Hope I didn't expose my inner geek too much

If I'm not mistaken Yoda said there are always two not only two. Where there is a master there is an apprentice or something along those lines.

MACE WINDU : There is no doubt. The mysterious warrior was a Sith.
YODA : Always two there are....no more...no less. A master and an
apprentice.
MACE WINDU : But which one was destroyed, the master or the apprentice

I stand corrected. He did use the word always, however the sentiment in the conversation was only, by his no more no less statement.

source: http://www.blueharvest.net/scoops/pm-script.shtml

Also, according to sith history, there is traditionally only 2, as stated above.

p.s. yes, I know they are only movies, but after a few surgeries and several hours in front of the dvd player, I have become more of a geek than expected.

At best, Sith Lords are considered "Dark Jedi". Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn described Darth Maul as one trained in the Jedi arts, yet obviously a Sith Lord.[/geek]

When it came down to pure fighting skills (not Force coherence), Maul was one bad motherfucker. Definitely my favotite lightsaber battle in the entire series is from The Phantom Menace, clear and away the highlight of that movie.

I thought I turned my geek mode off? [Freak]

Ray Park? Yeah, he is, and he did a bang up job with that battle.

Nick Gillard and RP did a great job coreographing (sp) those scenes.

and in Xmen there is a part in the statue of liberty when he twirls a broom stick and does a pose that is exactly the same move as one in Ep I... it was done as a bit of a nod to the star wars junkies

[/geek off]

he was also in Ballistic Eckes Vs. Severe... although is role was not nearly as cool

So, how many are unashamed of their geekiness to admit they have already read Revenge of the Sith? I just finished it up Sunday night. Can't wait to see how the movie compares. laugh

I have not read the book yet but I have played and beat the video game...it was really easy and gave what seemed to be like alot of the story away (not that I'm complaining).

Only 8 days to go... eek

ok not star wars geekdom, but possibly worse.

I have read every Harry potter book... when they announced the release date (july) of the new book, back in december, I started re-reading them...

so they would be fresh in my memory... i was done with them by February... so i waited a month and started again... I just finished them again last night.... thats 5 books, twice in 5 months... sad... messed up thing is im thinking i should read them again, but im afraid i dont have time to finish before the new one is out.

as for star wars.... I read the script for Sith... that may also be worse then reading the book, as I know exact lines and everything...

its going to be a great movie.

Hmmm. Folks at CHUD weren't too impressed. First mostly negative reviews I've seen.

That was pretty in depth, but kind of disappointing. I wanted to know how Palpatine came into his powers. Was he being trained as a jedi? Most likely not or the jedi would know of him. Did he come into his powers on his own by taking the "easy path"?

I ammmmmmm aa doooooooorrkkkk! laugh

You ain't got nothing on me. Geek out!

Palpatine (Sidious) was trained by a Sith Lord known as Darth Plagueis. Plagueis was not only his master, but a master of midichlorians as well. Some say that with the knowledge that Palpatine gained from Plagueis that he bended the force to create Anakin Skywalker, explaining his "virgin birth". Sidious eventually killed DP in his sleep after learning all he thought he could learn from him.

What he didn't know was Plaugeis had learned the secret of immortality. After the Emperor is killed on Endor, Plaugeis remerges as King Sharr. He's eventually defeated by Luke Skywalker.

Geek that! laugh

Sidious knew that DP knew the secret to immortality. He killed him thinking that if DP could discover the secrets, so could he.
