whats your setup??

Custom catback...let the shop pick which muffler to put on...just told them i'd like it semi-cheap and don't want it obnoxiously loud...just a deeper tone and low at highway cruising...

He ended up doin 2 1/4" piping i think(left it stock size) and put on an "XLerator Performance Exhaust" free flow muffler...upon googling the brand, I found XLerator.com which had this muffler(i know it doesn't go to xlerator.com)...all things said and done, it ended up costing me like $120...and I dunno if it's the warmer weather or what, but now I get like 17mpg city / 21mpg highway

So, for those of us who are more interested in performance than sound what should we do?

Buy a Gen 2?
There's a ton of ideas on here, but as far as I can tell(definitely not a gear head) from what I've read, the X is no burner....but I've seen posts on exhaust, headers, CAI, cams, etc.
