Has anyone ever used one of these?:

Description here:

Macneil Auto Stuff

I'm wondering if this could be used in conjuction with the Yakima (made for Nissan) Safari Racks..

Thank you!

I have a soft car top carrier but its a different brand (Steel Horse), I haven't had to use it yet because I can fit all my gear inside the X.

However I did see if it will fit on the roof.
If you put one crossmember all the way back and the other all the way forward it fits perfectly between the two and the Neoprene bottom protects against scratches on the roof.

You can also get the rubber strip kit for the roof ribs fron xterraparts.com That would keep down scratches.

Hey chaps...

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I'll look into both of your suggestions!

What neoprene? According to the site: "Has a soft, thick, fleece pad on the underside to protect your vehicle finish."

Speaking of the rubber strips...are they supposed to go on the raised sheetmetal "strips" on the roof, or in between? I've seen them applied both ways. Seems to me they should go on the raised parts. One X in my neighborhood has them in between the raised strips, and they guy said he bought it that way.

Cyg -

I would assume that they would be affixed to the raised parts. Doesn't the associated doc's at xterraparts show that?

I guess it does. I didn't think to check that until after I posted.

Mine is made by Steel Horse, its the Auto Back Pack, Napa Balkamp part number 735-3898.

Same basic thing, fabric bag strapped to your roof to hold gear.

Does anyone have the WeatherTech Bug Shield? I just bought a set of the WeatherFlectors and would like a strong bug shield that matches.
