Nope... Plus the Borla warranties their mufflers for a million miles.
I love the quality of Borla, plus they sound nice....

Has anyone tried converting to a 3" exhaust? or would I just be wasting my time and money power/sound wise?

You need to keep some back pressure in the exhaust. For a V-6, 2 3/4in. pipe on a single exhaust is pretty big.

Bluztraveler is right. I spoke to the owner of a local speed shop (dynamic turbo) and he said the reason that the Xterra has so much torque, is the fact that they have a constricted exhaust system. That helps to produce the torque........

Yeah, I say keep it at 2 1/4". You're not looking for top end in a 4,000+ lb. SUV.

well, for those of you who replace your muffler, I was wondering what year of xterra you all have. I know that for 2003 xterra, it has 10 more HP than previous xterras ( from 170Hp --> 180HP). Someone told me that Nissan had different exhaust system on 2003 xterra which gives 10 more HP. So I was just wondering if I still want to replace my muffler with Borla muffler, will it still make any obvious difference????

The main thing you're getting is sound. You may not gain hp, but you won't lose any either. Decide if you want a louder exhaust.
Most people like the deep growl.

I just had the MagnaFlow muffler installed. The muffler sounds good. I really didn't notice any big change in performance, but from what I read I didn't expect much. I also keep the same exhaust tip, just to keep it looking the same. Maybe, I'll see some improvement in gas mileage.

I put a Gibson on mine. Pretty quiet, but you still get a nice throaty sound when you rev it a bit. Plus it reduces the 95% restriction of the stock muffler down to 5%. The truck is overall more responsive since the mod.

Even if you don't get to hear a sound clip, buy the Borla. It's the best exhaust on the market and you'll love the way it sounds.

For the X? You're kidding, right?
Edit to add: Unless you're not talking about true dual exhaust, rather, you want split the main pipe and tag a "tail" off of it... *sigh* it might look cool, but it will give you exactly ZERO performance gain.
