I recently bought some Turtle wheel cleaner and it worked great on 3 of my wheels. On one wheel, there is brake dust that is literally caked onto it and the wheel cleaner hardly made a dent into it.

I also tried Goo gone on it and that didn't do any good either.

Is it okay to use steel wool? Or is there some other chemical that I could use to try to get the stuff off?

Thank you.

Get a can of spray brake cleaner. It will take it off, just be sure to wipe it off and then rince it once all the dust is gone.

Don't use steel wool, it will scratch the finish on your rims.

I notice alot of X's I see have a big build up of brake dust on their fronts rims and don't even bother to clean them up. Do they not notice it looks like total crap, blackish rims up front and clean rims in the back? Who knows, huh? confused

Ever since I replaced my stocks with some Crushed Black rims they stay clean looking all the time, even when I don't clean them.
