I watched a couple of games last night - a few thoughts...

The Boise State game was totally meaningless. They had Weber State so outmatched in the trenches they could do whatever they wanted at will. Their game next week against Washington will be much more illustrative.

Oregon State looked good against Utah, a solid mid-major. Very good defense, especially against the run. They only gave up one score and it was on a very nice long pass to a WR in single coverage. But come on guys - you can't even sell out that errector set of a stadium???

Les Miles is still a total garden tool, starting his brutal SEC conference schedule against mighty Miss State.

Well, who were they supposed to play? Florida? Auburn? Tennessee? Alabama?

Why don't we throw in USC or Michigan while we're at it? laugh

My point was simply that SEC schedules are vastly overrated. I fully realize Miles was trying to play up to his (largely toothless) fan-base when his comments were made, but they were really asinine comments.

[Spit] LOL! [LOL]

Then again, it's a long season and I think my Red Raiders have a 1AA team on their schedule so I won't laugh too hard.

Looks like it's going to be a long season in South Bend. Oh well. This year should be the last of that for awhile with that incoming class.

LOL at Michigan. Hopefully they don't play with their hair on fire against Oregon this weekend. [Uh Oh !]

Oregon wins their opener against the defending C-USA champs 48-27. DL and LB concerns not alleviated at all, but offensive production and lack of turnovers were positive. The Houston RB, Alridge, is freaking FAST. eek

Cal handled Tenn pretty easily, considering their huge question marks on defense. Nice to see a SEC team go on the road to play an overrated Pac-10 team and get their asses handed to them. Maybe they should stick to their policy of only staying in the south.

49-9. [Smoking] Good first game, on the road and on ESPN. [ThumbsUp] Harrell looked pretty damn good. However, if anyone got to see Potts play, you can see why I'm big on him and would love to see him start. The announcers sure liked him as well. Our typical tech stupid penalty mistakes seem to be back. All in all, I'm happy and we'll hopefully coast through this pretty easy non-conference schedule. Then again, I guess nothing's easy anymore considering what happened to Michigan. laugh

Good GAWD Oregon State looked bad last night. How is it, one must ask, that a team can lose 34-3 when outgaining the other (bad) team by almost 100 yards? Simple - throw 6 picks, fumble once or twice, have a punt blocked for a TD, and screw up a fair catch deep in your own territory. What a freakin' train wreck. [Freak]

In other news, Louisville gives up 42 points and 555 yards to...

...wait for it...

...Middle Tenn State. [LOL]

Our (UofL) defense sucks. I made a remark to some coworkers after the first game against Murray State that our D line was absolutely terrrible. They sure proved me wrong last night... So two games into the season, with our two extremely lightweight competition under our belt, and we have a whopping 1 sack, total. Wow. Absolutely pathetic.

I flicked on the tv last night and I was really disappointed to see that MTSU (losers to Fla. Atlantic) had scored 48 on UofL... they better do something about that D before they face WVU, Rutgers, S. Fla...

... or even Kentucky (next week). [Uh Oh !] wink

on the bright side, it could be worse... at least you're not Michigan.
