Are you using that same confusing setup like last year or did you fix it?

It will be a auto draft, much easier to just rank your players and let Yahoo pick for us than to try and find a good time for 14 people spread out across the U.S. NismoX, what are you refering to?

Draft Type: Autopick Draft

Max Teams: 14

Scoring Type: Head-to-Head

Player Universe: All baseball

Max Moves: No maximum

Max Trades: No maximum

Trade Reject Time: 1

Trade End Date: August 14, 2005

Waiver Time: 1 day

Can't Cut List Provider: None

Trade Review: League Votes

Post Draft Players: Follow Waiver Rules

Min Innings Pitched:

Weekly Deadline: Daily - Tomorrow

Start Scoring on: Week 1

Last year's scoring system was flat out messed up. I had no clue what was going on, yet finished 2nd. A bunch of us complained as '03's setup was much better.

Seems pretty simple to me, if you do better than your opponent for that week in one of the following categories you get a point for that category.

R H HR RBI SB AVG W CG SHO SV K ERA WHIP

example-if you have 20 runs and your opponent for that week has 10=you get a point, if you win the Runs, Hits, Home Runs, RBIs, Complete Games and Shutout categories. But, your opponent wins the other categories=you would lose that week with a record of 6-7.
We have a good amount of people, any suggestions or complaints-feel free.

Good luck, Eric

Although it's easy to understand, it sucks you have to manually add it up. It's been awhile, but I know most of us like the format from the year before. Anyone that played last year, feel free to chime in.

Manually add what up?

Have you clicked the "match up" link? You see all the stats for both teams.

Yes. It's been awhile and I already forget what it was, but something wasn't right and I remember all the posts from people saying similar things. I lost the link... do you have the link from last year still or is it gone now?

No live draft. Just rank your players and go auto. You want to go live do the other league. I dont have time to sit around for that.

Last year's league is long gone. Not to be a jerk but, I only remember one person complaining about the scoring last year. If I know what the problem is I can fix it, otherwise........(shrugging shoulders) smile
I'm leaving this one as a auto draft, I figure it's better to have two leagues. If you're available for the date/time he is having the draft that is. Live drafts can take a while and it's hard to find a time when every one can do it. Especially when we're scattered across North America and/or you have to strip the night of the draft. [Uh Oh !]

There were like 10 posts all year and I know I wasn't the only one. I remember 3 others but, if no one is going to say anything, maybe the don't care enough or the guys playing last year aren't playing this year.

BTW, a "Live Draft" for a free league makes no sense. That would be a waste of our times.

Anyone have a problem with the draft status being set to "ready" Thursday night. The draft will probably happen within 24 hours after I do that. If people want to wait or need to edit their player rankings just let me know.

Did we decide on a draft day yet? I liked the second week of March myself. That should still give enough time for eval and trades before the season starts, no?

The Idaho Spudz decided to give everyone a break this season after my strong finish last season. Actually, I am in two other leagues, but will spend less time following the games (and more time following our newest daughter) ... :p

Oops.....Those were reserved spots....Sorry. You can boot me from the league, or could you add one more spot?

Either way, I'm a team player and realize those weren't for me....albeit a bit late. You can delete the Shooters for the other guys.

I have no problem with more people, that way we don't have all-star teams. Makes it more difficult and will really test our baseball knowledge! One problem, we need an even number of teams that way no one will have a bye week.

I just joined. After I did, I got to thinking about it and thought maybe that slot was for someone else. If that is the case, please feel free to delete my team (Oneida Bears). I enjoyed it last year, and thought it would be fun for this year. Thanks.

Okay, I'm going to open up two more slots for Hawk and KJ_Dragon. That will be the max though, sorry to those who missed out. Remember, you have until March 15 to set your rankings for the draft.

Can't complain too much with Colon and Benson (do I get his wife too?), Ponson sucks, but oh well.

Looks good for me though, I have Boston's Jesus on my team. :-)

MB...Take a look at Everyday Eddie...I can't decide what to do with him...coming off injury, could be a good pickup if he stays healthy. Let me know what kind of SP you have to give, not sure if I trust Benson and Ponson for a full season.

started feeling a little AL-centric, so an NL pitcher should help.

Figures it was you. The T.O. lover crawls down to T.O.'s level and tries to sneak something like that by us. [LOL] I used to try that in my work's hockey pool all the time.

The best part is that I offered him Mike Lowell for Jeter at the beginning of the season since Lowell has had better recent career numbers than Jeter. He didn't want to do it and wanted A-Rod instead. [LOL] Yeah, ARod's on the same level as Craig freakin' Counsell who, I might add, is still worse value than Lowell despite his early season slump.

I put the deal out there. MattMualer accepted the deal. The league vetoed it because they are HATERS!

I'm getting the worst of the trade. Jim Thome is struggling and isn't about to come back anytime soon. I'm taking a chance on this trade.

What's the name of your team, Chris?

Nick Johnson is a straight up deal for Jeter. Look at the numbers.

All you have to do is look at the top, Philly.. Which is coincidentally how both Smith and Tonka's girls like to ride, but I digress.

Of course, this is in Primary's league. Maybe I should have been clearer on that? Just figuring this is the *OFFICIAL* Baseball thread and all.

Sorry to everybody for accepting that trade. Let that be a lesson, never get drunk and start fucking around with your fantasy basesall team. I could have sworn I hit "make counter offer" and I couldn't figure out why I wasn't picking players on the next screen. Doh!

For the record, what I wanted to counter with was Delgado and BJ Ryan for Thome and Jeter.

Anyone else think that Lowell for Jeter is a good trade?

It was at the time, but probably not now. Then again, I seriously doubt Lowell will continue this early season drought. He's just too good of a hitter.

What made the deal perfect at the time was that Jeter and Lowell have put up very similar numbers over the years (w/ a slight edge in favor of Lowell) and you already have Tejada at SS while I have A-Rod at 3B.

Should be a good one. Now that Griffey and A. Jones decided to hit for me this year, my team is benefitting from a great recent power surge. Next up, it's Mike Lowell's turn to return to true form. [Uh Oh !] Plus, I got Gagne back from the DL to help Wagner, Hoffman and Looper. laugh

Can we have some kind of courtesy out there when it comes to trade requests? I am tired of having them hang out there for days and days. Accept or reject.

MB...was that directed at me?
Sorry I have been busy at home and work and didn't have a chance to look the offer over.

Not sure I want to give up a closer for a guy hitting .195, with more strikeouts than walks, and slipping. Just wanted to look at it a little closer.

Not specifically. I have had other trade requests out there that never recieved any response and I just end up retracting them. Also another trade is just sitting out there because it hasnt been voted on.(I guess) Its been pending for 4 days. Now I wish I could just retract that one to. I am tired of waiting for it to go through.

Make a counter offer if you wish. But he will hit 40 home runs and drive in 100 runs and plays for a first place team. K's, walks and average really dont enter too much into the stats for this leagues purposes.

Let me know

Plus Mota is still on the DL. I will substitute Sean casey, who went 5 for 5 last night. He is good for 20 HR and 100 rbi's every year, plus a high average.

Not without someone comparable to Colon in there, at least. The other 4 are statistically a wash right now, with Sheffield proven over the long haul compared to Teixeira, and Randa and Blaylock probably identical. I don't see it working out for me. sorry.

I'm trying to keep Hernandez. He was my best pitcher before going on the DL.

How about this one.....

Delgado, Jones and LaRue for Sheffield, Rodridguez, and Giambi.

Sheffield's been my only source of real power so far, so I am really not ready to trade him off yet, and Rodriguez is a known performer, I don't expect the same from LaRue. Sorry.

How about Green with either Lieber or Contreras for Delgado?

I know, I saw that too. smile You could easily make up a couple categories. What's surprising to me is my starting pitching has been nails this week for the first time all season. All of them won. However, with the great closers I have, they haven't had any opportunities to save. Hope you're not counting on that category as being close and something you can come back on. wink

All I have to say is THANK GOD FOR DEREK LEE!!! He IS my offense right now. Granted, alot of my team is ChiCubs, and they are all FINALLY starting to hit the damn ball!! Kerry Wood is expected back in a couple weeks, and Prior is hoping to be back by the All Star break. My season may still be ok!! (granted, I'm ranked 15th right now [Crybaby] )

Anyone need any infielders? I have Placido Polanco(Phi - 2b, 3b), and John Mabry(StL - 1b, 3b, OF) available for trade. [Wave]

Yeah my pitching has been my strongest suit all season, but with Mota and Lieber blowing up this week...oh well.

Anyone have power available? Keep the dialogue going, PhiladelphiaX, we should be able to work something out!

You just want me to look at the score as much as possible...I'm on the comeback trail though...8-2!

Realistically though, looking at the numbers, I'll be lucky to get 5-5 out of this week.

Basically all of my producers for what?
Teixeira isn't getting it done for any of them.
I made an offer package with colon in it before and you didn't want to trade Duque. Now you are asking for the only players I am getting any production out of and all I've been offered is LaRue, Teixeira, Blalock and Ryan? Delgado and Jones have been mentioned, but to get them you asked for my best player at this point and only catcher.

I have offered Shawn Green, Jon Lieber, Jose Contreras, Bartolo Colon (who by the way is on your list) Guillermo Mota and Todd Jones in trades, and none were good enough. Didn't you say you needed pitching?

I need SP. Why would I trade the SP that I do have? I had 4 pitchers on the DL this week. I'm offering my best player in Teixeira. Your talking about him like he's Dave Hanson. Big Teix has better numbers than anyone on the Devi1's except for Damon. You offered Green but the OF I have are better than Green. I like Lieber and Colon but you wanted a SP in return. I can't afford to make that trade with you for my SP. Mota and Jones are spliting time and they are RP. All the Matadors I offered are still out there for the right deal. I'm willing to work with you Jersey or anyone else feeling like Monty Hall.

I'm just happy that my team is FINALLY starting to turn it around!! 9-4 against Rockaholic last week and starting the week off right at 5-3 against Banana Hammocks. About time my guys started doing something!!!

I won the first week, lost weeks 2-7, tied week 8, won 9, and I'm winning 10. Could make a run on it still wink

Ofcourse it's more fun when you're in first but win or lose, I still have fun and thats all that matters! I loved baseball until I was a senior in high school, I was a all star pitcher until high school. Crappy coach never gave me a chance, because of him I lost interest in baseball until two years ago. A baseball pool with some friends and one on XOC got me back up to date on who's who in baseball.

I hope he does, I like the Phils. Chase Utley should be playing every day at second. Polanco should be playing every day at third. Bell should be on the bench.

Charlie Manuel does some stupid things, but it looks like his being the anti-Bowa is starting to pay off.

But I think they will lose tonight.

Ortiz and Varitek are probably my best players. I'm watching the game right now....6th inning-Ortiz homers, Varitek 2 run double.

Classic.....I have THE BEST player in Baseball. I just read what Yahoo had to say about him, and had to laugh.....

Quote:
Views: This just in, Derrek Lee is a pretty good player. You know the rainbow striped Astros' uniforms of the 70's? Lee's stats are even gaudier than those. Wearing your argyle socks pulled up to your knees with plaid shorts and a plaid shirt carrying a conflicting pattern with those shorts…Lee's stats still win on the gaudiness scale. He is a bonafide stud.

I'll do Mackowiak for Randa. Their numbers are almost identical...You need a 2B more than a player on your bench. That, and Randa is doing a HELL of a lot better than Mabry

That was why I offered him. I'm sure not going to play Randa over Rolen now that he is healthy, and at least Iget those numbers in the lineup. You have an offer.

I'm not even sure what happened yet. I turned on the game on WGN Radio, and they said Lee left for "unknown reasons", and they'd update when they got info. I haven't heard yet what happened. I'm going to go check out cubs.com to see... confused

Edited to add: He aggrivated his shoulder. They say it's been bothering him for a while now, and he bowed out of the Home Run Derby because of it.

Woohoo! 2nd championship in 3 years! The year I didn't win (last year), I got 2nd place. Is it a dynasty yet? laugh

Thanks to all who played. It's been fun. Thanks to BigE for setting up the league and getting us started. Thanks to MBFlyerfan for battling back, claiming that last playoff spot and really almost winning it all (you really should have won it). Shooters... 72 games back... that's awesome! [ThumbsUp]

I'll look forward to defending my title next year. Now, we can watch the best part of the whole season. Go 'Stros!
