What will the stock skids on the 03 X stand up too? given they wont be as strong as an aftermarket skid plate but im not looking to chop up my truck and put a whole bunch of aftermarket stuff on yet, not for a few years but i might want to do some off-road trails nothing hard or dangerous but i want to know what the stocks will hold up to, rocks, sticks ect.
thanks [Wave]

The front skid is actually a splash guard to keep water and whatnot off the bottom of the engine/fan/aternator.
There is nothing behind it worth protecting from rocks, but it does offer a transition onto the front frame crossmember.

The fuel tank skid will take somewhat of a beating, but it will lose it's shape quickly.

Meanwhile, there is nothing protecting your oil pan. A fist sized rock can crack it and put a real hurt in your day.

The fuel tank skid is pretty useless, I ripped mine right off and put a football-sized/deep dent in the tank. Tank was fine, don't think the "skid" helped at all. It might help prevent debris from being kicked up on the road, but when it comes to loads, forget it.

Putting on aftermarket skids requires a few hours and 6 drill holes under the truck, and since they're underneath, nobody will ever see them.

Best investment I've ever done outside of tires.
