Bought my 2010 4x4 Xterra about two weeks ago. When I got the car, all they handed me was one key and no remote FOB. Now, after doing some research (that I should have done beforehand) I'm finding that maybe all models don't come with the remote FOB and/or keyless entry. Either I'm getting my information from the wrong places, or I got screwed lol. I found a website that sells the key FOBs but I'm unsure if it will even work. Any advice? The website even says all 2010 models...so that seems pretty cut and dry to me, but I'd hate to order it then have it not work.

If it's an SE with power locks it should have come with a fob. MAKE the dealer give you one.

Maybe the dealer did not GET one from the customer when the vehicle was traded in RNT, thats why he did not get one when he purchased it.

Instead of going in and demanding one , he might try going to the sales person that sold it to him and asking nicely if he can provide him with a fob.

You can draw just as many files with honey as you can vinegar.
Try being nice next time your in/at the dealership, you might get somewhere and not get shown the door.

This dealership was garbage anyways. He handed it to me as I was walking out the door, paperwork already signed and said, "oh by the way this is the only key, kthxbai.." I was so happy about the truck that I didn't care. But now that I'm driving it around, a key FOB would be nice lol. I'm thinking about just ordering one, but I would have no idea how to program it.

It's very easy to do, I'm sure the instructions are somewhere on this site.

The lacking of a fob should have been disclosed before the papers were offered for you to sign. They even have to tell you if it's missing the floor mats here. Look at the sales contract and see if it says "1 key, no remote fob". If not, they owe you one.

The saleman had a tech program mine when I went back to pick it up. Guess I'm lucky in that my dealership isn't full of @$$holes like some others. The saleman even called about a week later to make sure I was still happy and see if I needed anything else.

The ones they sell on ebay for around $10 say they come with instructions.

BTW... I don't know who would want to draw flies anyway. They're a nuisance.

If the programming procedure for the newer Xterras is anything like the one for the older ones it involves getting the computer into learn mode by pushing a bunch of buttons (like, turn the key to accessory, push the door lock button xx times within yy seconds, then blah blah blah - now you're in program mode, hit any key on the remote and it will be learned)... they make it complicated enough that you won't stumble onto it with normal use but once you know it it's easy and doesn't require any tools or a special programmer or anything.

Kaiser is right, the programming is dead easy. I ordered replacements for my wife's van and my X from keyless ride.

Price wasn't the ~$10 quoted in this thread, but they were brand new and worked as advertised.

I have a question, my xterra used to beep when I locked with my keyless remote, but now it doesn't...I liked the beep because I knew it locked, any ideas what the problem could be?

thanks!
