I think this is an example of some people going too far into "theory land". All the current sliders are overbuilt for the Xterra and will do a great job. If you use sliders in the manner you mention, you might want to run a bridge of reinforcement from one frame rail to the other. My fear is you will tweek your frame before you tweek any of the current sliders if you use them to tow with.
PS- I'm gonna throw in one more "Calmini" comment, which is their color choice. They have made a great decision with their Xterra trim matching color...the stuff looks like it belongs on the Xterra!
