To all:

Has anyone or anybody made a custom swing-out gate for the spare tire for the Xterra (e.g. older Pathfinders, some Honda CRV's, older Ford Broncos used to have)?

I would like to change my tires from the stock "P" passenger tires to "LT" light truck tires later in the year. However, if I did that, the spare full size tire will no longer fit underneath the cargo bed/frame (I got an SE version with 16" rims). A neat idea would be to have the spare tire mounted on the back on some swing-out gate like frame contraption.

If someone has come up with one, does anybody know of a place near Austin/San Antonio area?

I fit my 32" BFG MTs underneath there no problem. so they will fit. please not on the rear bumper stuff in the other posts, that there are a lot of problems with KMA, who created MC and my bumpers. so call them at your own risk.

Will the 32' spare fit with a hitch? I'm about to go with bigger tires and wondering will I have to ditch the hitch?

I saw a Grand Jeep Cherroke (I can't spell right!) with a swing rear spare on it...He was driving away fast so I couldn't see what brand it was....It looked like it mounted to the body, not the rear bumper like MC's. Anyways, it looked good and functional.

KMA isn't supposed to be that helpful. I tried to get a group buy going with some people on here and was quickly shot down because of the lack of reputability of KMA.
