A few more things,

1. Since your analog speedometer is never correct (usually a little high), you can use a GPS unit to get the most accurate speed setting. If you are the one driving, it's best you have someone else perform the calibration; so you don't get into an accident.

2. If you're going to be moving the scangauge from one car to another, don't forget to write down all your settings. Otherwise, it will be very frustrating to have to do it over again.

3. When you plug the gauge back into your X, you can go to "fillup" twice. The second time it will allow you to change the offset percentage, so you won't have to wait. Consumption will be accurate right away, but it won't know how much gas you have left until you do a real fill-up.

I haven't quite figured out how that offset percentage works on the fill up! Do you have more info to help me out?

Thanks!

After you fill-up (select More, Fill-up on your Scangauge), it will tell you how many gallons it has calculated and you can change the amount in 1/10 gallon increments (based on how many gallons you just pumped into your truck). As you change the amount of gas, you will see the offset percentage change. Remember that percentage. the next time you plug in the scangauge, quickly select Fill-up TWICE. The second time you should be able to adjust the percentage to match the number you determined previously. (You won't need to do this if you don't move the Scangauge around between different cars)

I was getting very accurate results, but the last time I was quite a bit off. I think that part of the problem is that the pumps at different gas stations don't always stop at the same time. From what I've read, the most accurate results will be achieved by always going to the same gas station and using the same pump. Personally, I don't care THAT MUCH about accuracy. After a few fill-ups, you should have a fairly good idea of what your offset should be.

OK, from all accounts this thing is awesome. It should help me figure out exactly something I was wondering on my Christmas drive back from New Orleans. I understand the relationship between speed and MPG (of course, the faster you go, the lower the mileage). I normally cruise at about 77 MPH (speed limit being 70) but this time set the cruise at 82 MPH and it was the first time my MPG was just truly horrible (14.3) on the highway. It was surprising that the mileage was about 3-4 MPG less than I'm used to.

Seems this gizmo will let me see the actual MPG at different speeds and I'd be interested to see a comparison between the MPG at say, 55, 65, 75, and 80.

Also, the trip was my first on a new set of Toyo Open Country A/T's (at 35 PSI). I've read that the mileage will be less on A/T's than on a highway type tire but realistically, how much difference will that make? And the Toyo A/T tread doesn't look nearly as different from a highway tread as some do (see below). Thoughts?

P.S. Didn't mean to steer the thread off-topic...will repost elsewhere if necessary.

It's a great device. I love it. It will also let you see GPH! That should help you to! smile

Do you have to unplug this everytime you get out of the vehicle?

Does the last screen that was used, pop up when it's turned back on?

Thanks, seems like a nice product!

You just plug it and it comes on and off as you turn on and off your X.
It keeps in memory all your setting between use as long as it stays pluged.
Very handy [ThumbsUp]

It's been awhile since I read this whole thread...hopefully this hasn't been asked already...

does the ScanGauge let you reset the TPMS system when it gets flaky? Does it let you monitor tire pressure levels too?

I would hate to be the one trying to get OBD2 to work on an SR swapped 240. They have enough wiring problems as it is.

Looks good eXTra-fORt! I thought about putting my down there but went with a dash mount to avoid looking down so much. Now that I have had it a while I don’t look at it so much any more while driving

I also put it in so that I could remove it easily. This has come in handy so I could read a couple of my friend’s codes.

Just received my ScanGuage today and it's everything it's hyped up to be. I highly recommend it.

If interested, there's a vendor on eBay selling them for $115 including shipping. Look up member 'sterlingda' or just search on 'ScanGuage'.

Judging from the speed, this one's definitely not in an X. The MPG feels about right sometimes though.
