Same bsic design I used, and I don't know if it's just your schematic, but did you include gussets from the frame mount to the legs? I learned the hard way why they're so important. frown When I rebuilt mine I used 1/4" plate and 2" sq x 1/4" walled tube for the braces with 1/4" plate gussets.. They do more than their duty now smile

that IS actually an easier picture to see jeff. those are awesome. they would fit the bill perfectly!!! now only issue is i dont weld.....oh wait, i might know someone who does....maybe a six pack will get them welded for me. what type of tubing is that jeff? (not a welder so i'm not sure if there is a specific metal or whatever i would need to use.)

thanks for posting, appreciate it man [ThumbsUp]

I did not. But the design as pictured probably needs them. The actual design of mine is slightly different, but has the same dimensions as that picture. They (the plates) definitely flex a little on hard hits.

All tubing is 1/4" thick steel. The main tube is 2x3 and the lateral tubes are 2x2.

Some more detail:

Zoom in those pictures, they were welded by a MIG expert. You won't find cleaner welds.

Are the mounting plates 1/4" or thicker? I'm making some along the same line but didnt know if I needed to go thicker on the mounting plates. Oh and i'm using all 2"x2".

Jeff, get gussets.
The sliders for sale are Shrock-bar knockoffs but very well made. I've seen them in use and they can't be beat for the $$$

Enough of that  Who actually used their armor this weekend? smile

Hey JeffW, 4"x4" should be enough for the mounting plate shouldn't it?

Y'know, I don't think I will. I have slammed the SH!T out of mine and they've flexed a little, but haven't caused a problem.

I dunno. I guess I'm torn. It seems like a little flex is less damaging than snapping a bolt off.

Personally, I'd go bigger to give yourself more flexibility in your design. You can always shear down to a custom size, but you can't make em bigger.

Hey guys,

I actually bought the Shrock-a-like sliders from Grn-X the day he posted them for sale. Solid, solid, solid! I repainted them and have them mounted. Looks great and so much stronger than stock steps. cool

I'll try to get pics up over the weekend. These slider give such a different look to the X.

DBAX I'd like to go out wheeling sometime with the rest of the Phoenix gang, but right now my 14 month old is my adventure... but soon.
