Looking to add a cargo box and other accessories to the factory roof rack. What is the differences between the X towers and the lowriders. They cost about the same. Does anyone have an opinion on them and which is prefered.

From what I've learned, the Lowrider is the newer, lower profile system that attaches to vehicles with factory racks and fits a variety of cars/trucks.

The X-towers were something that was developed specifically for the Xterra and sit a little higher because of the proprietary mounting system.

You're not going to go wrong with either one. The Lowrider is just a little newer, cleaner and more versatile vehicle-wise.

The low-riders I saw looked to be xterra-specific. I mean, what other vehicle has a rack like ours?

Had the low-riders been out when I got mine, I would have opted for them. The x-towers are just too high, in my opinion.

Plus, the low-riders are lockable. The X-towers are not.
