Hey - those trakers can get modded pretty good...I've seen a lot on trails, and they are not bad actually, once you've spent a few years building them up. The steering shafts are scary...they look as strong as a soda straw.

The FJ won't have many "new" problems like you see with other first builds...it's based off a shortened frame already in use by Toyota for years, as well as the long used Tacoma 4.0 liter engine and the same transmission...so I doubt you'd see as many first year "glitches" as you would with other new models. The FJ is a cool rig...can be beastly off road if it's built right, and I like it...I had one on order but canceled it as soon as I found my current Xterra...I'd still buy one if my wife said go for it...she could drive it Good luck with the decision...honestly, I don't think you could go wrong with either the FJ or the X.

When I was shopping for a new truck I was looking at both the FJ and the X also. The thing was, I didnt really like anything about the FJ except the price tag...and then when I saw my current SE for 19K, I said f*ck the FJ and bought the X the moment I saw it.

It was a color that was added to the Nissan linup only after the French took over the company.

i just checked out the FJ forums and i've gotta say that for a truck that really hasn't been out that long, there sure are a lot of options for mods. there are 10 different companies that make sliders and bumpers.

There is a HUGE push in the off road industry market to support the FJ.
Toyota hired a guy to drum up interest...and he's got a LOT of aftermarket interest, and is doing a great job as far as I can see.
I don't know if enough FJ's will be sold and modified to justify the fabrication and so forth...but, sometimes, the availability drives the market, rather than the other way around.

hey...my dad is in internet car sales through AutoUSA, owned by AutoNation, and he said the other day one Toyota dealership got in a shipment of FJs. One of them was Black with a black top, and gunmetal colored wheels. I think they're stepping out more into the look that Xterra and Jeep owners are looking for with that.
