my 2000 denem blue x came with the gray trim (bumpers and what not) and after 4 years in salt air they looked pretty ugly. so I re-painted them in 2004 with the same gray color but that only lasted about a year and faded again.

So I was looking for a good durable paint that could put up with salt air and hot UV light. I got a can of Mercury outboard lower unit paint (BLACK) and preped and repainted anything that was gray on the out side (yes even the running boards and roof rack)
and after 3 years it still looks new! I like the blacked out look much better then the gray also. gives the truck a sort of bad azz look...Ill post pics once I put my some 17 inch BFG AT's on and raise the truck a few inches...

but the main point is Im sure most of us have the failed bumpers and trim in gray and outboard paint does the job very well. it comes in a few colors not many but Im sure black is always appreciated..
