dido.. had to cut mine off too... I even went to the dealer to ask them how the knob was put on ( before this board existed ).. they only asked why.. and that I shouldn't..

If you want a comfortable knob..IMO.. I installed one with a tiltable head ( momo and a few others make them ) .. gives a nice shape and adjustable comfort and it ends up lowering the height of the shift just a tad.
