Yep... But any decent speed of impact, and they're still gonna' hit your rig. I've got a 10" drop ball for my truck; it sticks back about 10" or so. Not for sure, exactly how much. But it's almost at a 45 degree angle, so if it's 10" down, then it's got to be 10" back, with the ball on it.
