The Mojave Road has been referred to as an "adventure through time and terrain" by Dennis Casebier and his group, the Friends of the Mojave Road, who have erected rock cairns at most intersections to show the way.

First used as a trail by the Mojave Indians to trade with the coast for hundreds of years then a major freight road in the mid 19th century before being abandoned the trial goes for ~140 mile passing through varied terrain from sand washs, hills, dry lakes, moguls, canyon, etc passing by a old army fort, indian petroglyphs, springs, camps, watering, holes, volcanic areas, etc.

We covered about 80 miles of the trail over a leisurely day in half and really enjoyed everthing from the sites, weather, wildlife, springs, camps, terrain, good company, etc as we traveled from 2k to over 5k and back down again from Lanfair Rd to Afton Cyn.
