I just bought a 2001 Silver SE with 16" stock tires. I live in Phoenix,AZ and want to upgrade my tires as big as I can without having to do any modifications. I keep hearing people recommending BFG or Scorpions. I will be doing 75% intown driving and 25% off road, so I am hoping not to make any changes that affect my intown driving too much. I would still like the reliability for off road, since I will be using them in bad conditions (mud, sand, slick rock, snow, etc.). I keep hearing that 265/70/16 AT's would be good. What brand is best, how much ply sidewalls do I need (2 ply, 3 ply?), and do I have to do a torsion lift (I don't want to!). I don't mind some cutting, but want to keep the mud flaps I have. I am just a girl, so please be easy on the technical lingo (doesn't mean that I won't get dirty though). Just learning, but very interested in making my Xterra solid. Any advice greatly appreciated for my situation. TIA.
