My only recommendation is to get something that is easy to operate...especially if you go offroad at all. Even on the street, the X bounces enough so operating one of those head units overloaded with buttons and graphs and crap could be a royal PITA and a distraction. Oh, and I've had very, very, very bad luck with Sony car audio! FWIW, when I was shopping for my Xterra, only two brands met all my criteria and they were Nakamichi and Eclipse ( I ended up with Nakamichi), but you may not want to spend that much. Of the more mainstream brands, I would look at Kenwood and Alpine personally. Actually, the Kenwood Excelons are quite nice and very similar in design to the classy Eclipse units.
