Yes, you can reasonably expect to have your vehicle worked on without it being damaged. I can also expect that engineers will design things that won't fail, perform electrical repairs that won't catch buildings on fire, etc. But they do. It happens all the time.

I don't post on here how you guys fail at your jobs, or how you even do your jobs. But in my profession, you folks feal that you have a duty to call out my 'brethren' (so to speak) and point out the smallest of items. Even go so far as to post them on the internet for all the world to see.

The rest of this post has been edited as my hatred for folks 'better than those people' had got the best of me.

Oh, and I'm not a 'specialist', I'm a Master. 14 years, 3rd gen wrench.
honestly, my friend, you don't impress me - whether you're a specialist, apprentice or master. You rather amuse me with your poor logic. It's like: "yeah, I fixed your car, now take it to a body shop to get the scratches I put on there removed".

Agreed, we all make mistakes, even the engineers, but I, for one, certainly wouldn't tell a customer to fix it himself if he didn't like my wiring because I did a hack job.

I guess we all take pride in our work, just some folks have higher standards than others.

good luck.
