The answer is NO.

An electoral college type system would be a "winner take all" type state primary.

The Democrats have apportioned delegates. They also have these superdelegates which comprise about 20% of the vote if the nomination goes to a floor fight at the convention.

The superdelegate system is actually very undemocratic. It was actually designed so high ranking party members could possibly interfere with the nominating process if an unacceptable or unelectable nominee were to emerge during the primary election process.[/b]
