Also, you tapped into the cig wire? Was it a Red and Black wire?
The trim is the whole Titanium-colored piece surrounding and including the gear selector and t-case lever (for your 4wd). It's easier if you pull up from the edge of the lever boot. Also, you have an automatic so I don't know if you have to take it out of park to get the trim back enough. As for the wire, tap into the red/power lead. If I remember my '02 was r/g: red with a green stripe. There are only two leads so it shouldn't be hard.
