The spacers in front make the tires swing in a wider arc, hitting more stuff, so you have worse tire clearance during turns, but better straight ahead.

For most people this means having to use a smaller tire than they would have.

Our IFS and associated steering geometry is why its like that up front on our X's.

The rear live axle does great with less BS though (A spacer makes you have less backspacing).

I use 1.5" spacers, also from rugged rocks, for just the REAR for that reason.

I use stock 5.5" BS rims up front to maintain turning radius and tire clearance on turns.

This allows me to carry ONE spare with OEM BS....for front and rear.

I can run 33 x 13.5/16 tires with this set-up...and I only trimmed front well plastic at the rear of the wells where the plastic ledge the lower mud flaps used to screw into was. (WAS)

As you can see in the pic, my upper mud flaps are still there. smile

With less BS in front, I'd have to use pizza cutters and/or a smaller diameter tire, both sacrifices being a bad idea where I wheel.
