Clearing DTC codes with the Scan Gauge doesn't require navigating through a deep menu system. It's quite easy to see if there are any DTCs, and not much more difficult to reset them, especially if the MIL (check engine light) is on.

As for the special "commands" you can send to the computer, it does require navigating to some deep menu options, and it actually would be quite hard for the non-computer-geek-type-person to send commands anyway.
